Replaced multiple swing drives on a Bucyrus 495 shovel at Samples Mine in West Virginia. Full teardown, removal, install, alignment, and testing completed on site.

Project Overview
JP Tech was called to Samples Mine in West Virginia to remove and replace the swing drives on a Bucyrus 495 shovel. Our crane crew, field mechanics, and support trucks handled the full operation from teardown to installation.
The work included:
– Isolating the swing system and prepping the upper assembly
– Rigging and removing failed swing drives
– Installing and aligning new drives to OEM spec
– Torquing, plumbing, and functional testing
– On-site cleanup and return to service.
The shovel was returned to production with minimal downtime thanks to coordinated crane operations and on-site mechanical support.
